August 19, 2010 – Field Trip:

Gaylord – Sugar Bowl & Frac Site
Topic – Fracturing Process presented by:
Darel Willison of Superior Well Service
Speaker – Darel brings 38 years of experience in the Michigan oilfield including experience designing fracture treatment for the Antrim, Detroit River, Richfield, Niagaran, Trenton, Collinswood, and PDC formations.  He was also the supervisor in charge of the largest cement job and the largest foam frac done in Michigan. 

When – Lunch at Sugar Bowl from 12–1:00 p.m.
             Frac Site 1-2:30 p.m. (location will be supplied at a later date, via e-mail)

Scholarship News:

Congratulations to Jacob Borysiak a 2009 graduate from Traverse City Central High School, on receiving a $500 scholarship from COPAS of Michigan.  Jacob has been accepted into Grand Valley State University’s Honor Program, majoring in mathematics.  Good luck Jacob! 

One to two $500 scholarships are awarded each year by COPAS of Michigan (if applicants don’t meet requirements no scholarships will be awarded).  Applicants must meet the following requirements: 

1)       Enroll in Accounting or Petroleum Technology Field

2)       Attend a Michigan College or University

3)       Maintain a 3.0 or higher G.P.A.

Currently COPAS has 23 participating societies (United States and Canada) and over 3,000 members.
